Nigel Poor

Pulitzer Prize Nominee

Nigel Poor ’86, co-creator of the hit podcast Ear Hustle, was nominated this year for a Pulitzer Prize in Audio Reporting. Speaking with the Sacramento Bee Poor reacted to the nomination, “To me, it came as a shock, a total shock. I am an artist who is working on a podcast and I have huge respect for what journalists do.” Pulitzer judges described the podcast as “consistently surprising and beautifully crafted.” Ear Hustle chronicles life in prison and boasts more than 40 million downloads and listeners throughout the world. It began after Poor and co-producers and creators Earlonne Woods and Antwan Williams entered the PRX Radiotopia contest beating out 1500 other entries and going on to win the prize of professional production and distribution. In June, Poor addressed Bennington’s Class of 2020 in the College’s remote ceremony and spoke about her work and her time at Bennington.
